L'Amphithéâtre 3000

A WARM WELCOME to the Amphithéâtre 3000 at the Lyon Convention Centre.

The Amphithéâtre 3000 is located between the River Rhône and the Tête d'Or Park. It was built by Renzo Piano, the architect who designed the Georges Pompidou Centre in Paris. It was inaugurated on 1 June 2006. The space inside the Amphithéâtre 3000 can be laid out in different ways to meet the needs of different types of events.

Inspired by Gallo-Roman amphitheatres, it is the only venue of its kind in Europe, with a 180° semi-circular hall that opens onto the stage area and stage entrances, offering a wide range of layout possibilities.

The Amphithéâtre 3000 has hosted several hundred cultural shows and concerts: French and international singers, modern dance, classical dance, film-concerts, tributes and commemorative events.
The Amphithéâtre 3000 is licensed as an entertainment venue: PLATESV-D-2021-003760

Key characteristics:

  • 180° semi-circular hall.
  • A "classic" layout with 2,750 seats, a "fully-seated" layout with 3,100 seats and a layout combining seated places and standing room for up to 4,500 people.
  • Stage front opening of up to 30m, suitable for any type of performance.
  • 1,000m² of stage space making it possible to create incredible stage décors.
  • A back-stage area specifically designed to enable the unloading of sets/décors directly onto the stage.

We can help producers of concerts/shows with their ticketing plans, teasers and communication on our social networks.

We can also provide customised areas for pre-show cocktail buffets.

Below, you will find some practical information to help you prepare your visit as efficiently as possible.

Opening of the doors

The doors generally open one hour before the start of the concert/show.

Access control and security

When the "Vigipirate" (French national anti-terrorism alert) plan is in force, the contents of bags are systematically checked. This measure is compulsory when the plan is activated. Everyone is required to undergo a security check at the entrance to the establishment. This involves a pat-down search by specialised staff.
Anyone who refuses to comply with the control measures shall be refused entry to the Amphithéâtre 3000 or removed from the premises.

Bulky and prohibited items

Visitors carrying bulky objects shall not be granted access to the Amphithéâtre 3000. This includes items such as suitcases, rucksacks, shopping bags and other bags or luggage whose volume is greater than 10 litres.

This notably includes weapons and ammunition of any kind, tear gas canisters, knives and sharp objects; explosive, flammable or volatile substances; alcoholic beverages, illegal substances, glass or plastic bottles with corks.

Depending on the show, the above list of forbidden items may be supplemented with additional items.

These items shall be automatically confiscated by the security/safety staff at the entrance to the Amphithéâtre 3000 and then deposited in the left-luggage office, except in the case of aluminium cans and glass bottles, which shall be disposed of in the waste bins.

Note: in order to guarantee the safety of everyone, a left-luggage office is available for helmets and bulky items that are not allowed in the Amphitheatre hall.
All items deposited in the left-luggage room shall remain under the responsibility of their owners. The Security Staff cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to the items deposited.

However, there is no on-site cloakroom.

No recordings (sound, video, photo) may be made in the theatre hall before, during and after the concert/show without the prior written agreement of the production team or the artist. This applies to all recordings/photos, whether taken with or without a flash. Anyone caught making a recording shall have their camera/device confiscated.
